OASBO Professional Communication Etiquette

• Refrain from sending messages that defame, challenge, or attack others. This includes business partners and school members.
• Remember everything on the listserv becomes public record (when it is delivered to your inbox).
• While we only allow school members on the listserv, we cannot guarantee the information will be kept private and not forwarded.
• Use caution when posting and always review messages before sending.

Listserv Etiquette

• Include a signature that includes your name, organization, and email in all messages.
• Write a subject line that makes the topic clear.
• Reply all only when your response benefits everyone.
• Reply directly to the sender only when responding "thanks for the information" or "I'd like that information, too" — not to the entire list.
• If you are the requester of information, consider sending the compiled data you received from members to the entire listserv. You could use a form or spreadsheet to gather the information to share, or just compile the written responses.
